Open Call!
Special Project: Onward

The Outsider Art Fair is pleased to present Onward, an open call booth.
On the one year anniversary of The Women's March, we invite artists, professional and non-professional, to share their vision for the future of women.
All artists -- no matter their background, reputation, level of success or anonymity -- are invited to contribute a work.
Artists will submit works (two-dimensional, no larger than 16 x 20 inches) to the fair and each will be considered on a first come, first serve basis. All works will be priced at $400 and artists will receive a 50% commission for sold works.

Onward is organized by writer and curator Jamie Sterns.

"The Raw and the Cooked: Outsider Art Environments and Installation Art"
Tuesday, January 16, 2018
7:00 PM
Ace Hotel New York
20 W 29th St
New York, NY 10001

RSVP: info@outsiderartfair.com

Organized and moderated by Paul Laster, this panel explores the relationship between Outsider Art environments and contemporary art installations, and considers the similarities and differences in these highly imaginative realms. The panel will include multimedia artist Saya Woolfalk, Karen Patterson (Curator, John Michael Kohler Arts Center, Sheboygan, Wisconsin), Michael McFalls (Director of Pasaquan and Professor, Columbus State University, Georgia), and multidisciplinary artist Ellen Harvey.

The Ace Hotel New York lobby will also be the site of two exhibitions; History Lesson, an installation of drawings and paintings by Texan artist Ike Morgan, co-presented by SHRINE (New York) and Webb Gallery (Texas) and Shear Joy, the scissors collection of Harley Spiller

OAF Curated Space
Responding to Pasaquan

The OAF 2018 Curated Space, organized by contemporary artist Saya Woolfalk, will be a response with her own work to Eddie Owens Martin's (aka St. EOM) visionary environment Pasaquan, which he conceived in rural Georgia as a personal utopia, where all cultures and ethnic groups come together, connecting with the earth and the universe. As an artist who uses science fiction and mythology as tools for thinking about the world, Woolfalk is drawn to St. EOM's approach to place-building. Through her installation, which will include original furniture from St. EOM’s reading parlor and an astrologer performing readings in the space, Woolfalk hopes to evoke a similar, culturally resistant mythology.
